APIs for Application Development

Application developers will find that the FarSync range has a very flexible API, it allows access to the low level features of X.25 whilst also enabling fast easy development.

	Two fully documented C source sample programs are provided. Source code from these samples can be used to fast-track the development process.
	Interface structures are provided in Pascal to permit easy interfacing from applications developed in Delphi.
	There is a comprehensive PDF format API on-line manual with definitions of the function calls and helpful advice on the best way to utilise the API.
	The developers kit is included free with every FarSync product.
	Free email and telephone assistance to applications developers.
	The API to the FarSync PCI card is shared with the X.PORT ISA product range which means that Windows NT applications developed to use the X.PORT X.25 API will work with the FarSync range without change or recompilation. It most cases applications developed to use FarSync will also work with X.PORT.

TCP/IP over X.25

The IP/X25 module supplied on the CD-ROM as part of the standard product enables PCs to run the IP protocol over an X.25 network. Higher level protocols that run over IP including TCP, UDP, HTTP and FTP are handled. The module conforms to RFC 1356 to permit interoperation with other devices using IP over X.25.

Communications Cards

There are 2 cards in the FarSync PCI H-Series range, both are half-length cards for easy installation. The complete range support X.21 (V.11), V.24 (RS232C) and V.35 type port connections

FarSync H2P

FarSync H4P

The FarSync H2P is a 2 port card; port connector types (X.21 / V.24 / V.35) are automatically configured on connection through intelligent cable sensing.

The FarSync H4P is a high density 4 port adapter with intelligent cable sensing. The 4 ports are brought out the back of the card via a high density connector, only one bus slot is required. A short 4 way splitter cable supplied with the card connects to the high density connector, the standard cables which are ordered separately are connected to the splitter cable. Up to 4 adapters can be installed in a single PC.

Software Configuration

The FarSync product is simple to install on Windows NT. Configuration is via a user friendly application designed to make X.25 configuration easy. There is context sensitive help and an on-line manual should it be required. Many of the parameters such as DTE / DCE selection are determined automatically. Selecting the line speed by default automatically sets suitable timer and retry values. The advanced tab permits users to exactly specify the configuration of the line where this is required.

A monitor utility is included which displays the channel connection status and maintains statistics of user data, packet and frame types transmitted.

Cables

Cables are available for the adapters with X.21 (V.11 15 pin male D type), V.24 (RS232C 25 pin male D type) and V.35 (MRAC-34 male 'brick' type), connections in any mix up to the cards total port count.

Packaging and Warranty

The X.25 software and the development kit are supplied on the CD-ROM included with the FarSync communications card.
Cables are ordered separately.
The software is available for free download to customers with FarSync cards. New releases of X.25 software for FarSync cards are made available for download.
The card is supplied with a 4 year warranty.
