Overview

The versatile intelligent FarSync T-Series X.21 cards provide up to 8.448 Mbits/s (E2 speed) WAN solutions for your X.21 and V.35 connectivity requirements. Whether you are connecting to the Internet, a satellite link, a private network using TCP/IP or connecting sites using leased lines, FarSync provides the connectivity solution. With its WAN miniport driver (NDISWAN) interface, the card installs seamlessly under Windows XP, 2000 and NT 4.0. Microsoft’s RAS and powerful RRAS support, supplied with the Operating System, can be fully utilised on both single and multiple processor systems. The product is supplied with in own built in multi-channel Line Monitor.

Multiple cards can be installed, which could provide for instance the basis of a very low cost high speed Wide Area Network (WAN) hub. See also supported features under Linux.

Microsoft’s RAS and RRAS products offer a very rich feature set, including support for TCP/IP and IPX Routing, NetBEUI, VPN (Virtual Private Networking), QoS Technologies (Quality of Service), RADIUS-based accounting services, PPP, PPTP and SLIP link layer protocols, bandwidth aggregation and compression, SNMP and Web administration.

G.703 E1, fractional E1 and E2 network connections with BNC or RJ45 (E1 only) connectors are supported using interface converters.

Typical Applications
The FarSync T-Series X.21 adapters are suitable for connection to standard TCP/IP networks.

Typical applications include:

High speed Internet access
Remote office access over leased lines
PC-based multi-port wide area network hub
Satellite multicasting

Multiple Cards
A large number of ports can be supported by the installation of multiple FarSync T2P and T4P cards in a PC. The card then appears to RAS or RRAS simply as a single adapter with many ports. Typically maximum of 4 cards can be supported providing up to 16 ports; however, the card limit is only dependent on the resources available in the host PC.
High Performance

The T-Series intelligent cards have been designed for high performance. They are driven by 50 MHz AMD Am186 CC/CH processors with 1 Mbyte of on board zero state SRAM memory mapped to the PC, features include:

Over 2000 fps (data frames per second)
Line speeds to 8.448 Mbits/s per port (includes E1 and E2 line speeds)
X.21 (V.11 / RS422), V.35 and RS232C (V.24) network connections
2 and 4 port cards.

Installation and Configuration
Easy installation and fast configuration are features of the product, On-line help and documentation is provided. T-Series cards are 'plug-and-play' compatible supporting Windows XP, 2000 and NT. The product has been tested and approved by Microsoft as 'designed for Windows XP'.

A step by step Routing Configuration Guide is supplied with the product to help you to quickly configure Microsoft's RRAS support for optimal use.

Line Monitor and Diagnostics
The FarSync product is supplied with a high performance multi-channel line monitor that allows the user to record, display, store and replay line traffic with full protocol decoding. Comments can even be inserted into the line trace to assist later analysis.

Working in conjunction with Microsoft’s Dial-Up Networking and Remote Access (RAS/RRAS) applications, a rich variety of management applications are available, providing for instance, real-time display of channel connection status / statistics.

Product Packaging
The product includes the complete set of software drivers, a line monitor software, documentation supplied on CD-ROM, RRAS configuration guide, a quick start guide, the communications card and X21 cables. The card with software may also be purchased separately from the cables, see X21 Product Range for details. New versions of the software are available for free download.
